Talented Nigerian midfielder Noah Okafor has signed his first professional contract with Swiss Super League champions FC Basel, the club have announced.
Okafor's new contract will keep him at FC Basel until at least June 30, 2020.
The 17-year-old has been promoted to the first team of the Swiss powerhouse and handed the number eleven jersey for the remainder of the season.
''Noah is a very versatile player, a great talent from our own ranks," said sporting director Marco Streller.
"Many top clubs in Europe showed a real interest in him, so we are very happy that he has made the commitment to FCB and that we have been able to retain him."
