Nigeria's Best Defensive Prospect At Arsenal Suffers Injury
Published: February 03, 2018
Nigeria's top defensive prospect at Arsenal Academy Joseph Olowu remains on the sidelines due to injury.
Arsenal youth-team expert Jeorge Bird confirmed that the Hale End Academy product did not feature in the Gunners 3-2 win at Middlesbrough in the FA Youth Cup on Friday because of an undisclosed ailment.
At the moment, Olowu stands no chance of making his competitive debut for Arsenal when they face Alhaji Gero's Ostersunds FK in the Europa League a week on Thursday, despite the fact he has been registered for the competition via the List B.
Aged 18, the highly-rated youngster trained with the Gunners first-team last September, ahead of their Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
Five years ago, the central defender was poached by the Gunners after starring in a test game, while undergoing trials with Charlton Athletic and penned his first professional contract with the London club in December.
Olowu has made seven appearances for Arsenal's youth teams this season and captained the U18s against Chelsea.
