Nigerian Whizkid On Target In Chelsea's Loss To Man City PL Cup
Published: March 13, 2018
Nigerian attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin was on target for Chelsea but his goal was not enough as the London team lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the final of the inaugural U16 Premier League Cup.
The England U17 international was missing from the Chelsea U18s squad that thrashed Brighton in the U18 Premier League last Friday and it has now come to light that he wasn't considered for that game because of his involvement with the U16 squad the next day.
Manchester City were 1-0 up at the break courtesy of Rowan McDonald's goal but Anjorin scored in the second half to send the game into extra time.
Taylor Bellis's winner saw City crowned the inaugural U16 Premier League Cup winners.
In the current season, Faustino Anjorin has recorded 12 appearances for Chelsea in the U18 Premier League, scoring three goals, and has netted twice in the FA Youth Cup.
On Sunday, Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the Under-18 Premier League Cup at Cobham Training Ground; Tariq Uwakwe is in line to feature for The Blues.
