Why Arsenal Loanee Nwakali Was Omitted From MVV Squad Vs FC Dordrecht
Published: April 09, 2018
Arsenal loanee Kelechi Nwakali was omitted from MVV Maastricht's match day squad against FC Dordrecht on Monday evening.
The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles skipper received his fifth yellow card of the season last Friday against Helmond Sport which triggered an automatic one-game suspension.
Against De Graafschap on January 26, Nwakali was cautioned after 52 minutes on his second debut for MVV, before picking up bookings against Almere City, RKC Waalwijk and FC Emmen.
This is the attacking midfielder's worst disciplinary record since he first arrived in the Netherlands in 2016 as he was handed just two yellow cards in 34 matches in all competitions last term.
The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner played clean football while at VVV Venlo in the first half of this season, picking up no bookings in twelve appearances.
Nwakali penned a multi-year contract with Arsenal in 2016 after he attained the age of majority but was immediately loaned out to continue his development in the Netherlands due to work permit issues.
