Super Falcons and Brighton GK Nnadozie marks WSL debut with impressive clean sheet

Chiamaka Nnadozie made an impressive start to her Women’s Super League career as Brighton & Hove Albion Women held Aston Villa to a goalless draw in the opening game of the 2025–26 season.

The Super Falcons goalkeeper marked her debut with a clean sheet, demonstrating her command in goal with four crucial saves, three effective punches, and two high claims.

The 24-year-old, who joined Brighton from Paris FC in July, was immediately installed as first-choice goalkeeper, wearing the No. 1 jersey.

Her commanding presence was evident throughout the match, as she repeatedly denied Villa’s attackers and organized Brighton’s defensive line with confidence.

Her performance underlined why she is regarded as one of Africa’s top goalkeepers and a key asset for the Super Falcons.

Brighton’s match against Aston Villa was tightly contested, with both sides creating limited clear-cut opportunities.

Nnadozie’s composure and sharp reflexes ensured that Villa’s pressure never translated into goals.

Her four saves included a mix of quick reactions and positional awareness, while her three punches and two high claims highlighted her ability to dominate the penalty area.

This clean sheet debut places Nnadozie alongside Super Falcons teammates such as Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne, who have also successfully transitioned to the Women’s Super League.

The Nigerian goalkeeper’s impressive start will give Brighton confidence as they aim to improve on last season’s performances and compete at the higher end of the table.

Having already starred at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the Olympic Games, Nnadozie continues to build her reputation on the global stage.

Her performance against Aston Villa shows that she is ready to make an immediate impact in England, bringing both experience and quality to Brighton’s backline.

Brighton will look to build on this solid defensive display as the 2025–26 campaign gets underway, with Nnadozie poised to be a key figure throughout the season.
