Manchester City's Nigerian Super Kid : We Can Beat Barcelona
Published: April 19, 2018
Manchester City midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru believes they are capable of beating Barcelona in Friday's UEFA Youth League semifinal clash at Centre sportif de Colovray (Nyon).
The Nigerian talent is set to be named in the starting line-up for the Citizens, with Brahim Diaz and and Phil Foden ineligible to face the Spanish opponents after playing three games for the first team in Europe, while Matt Smith is suspended following his booking vs Liverpool.
''We expect to be at this stage of the tournament. We’re a big team, but it wouldn’t be good to get overly hyped about it,'' Tom Dele-Bashiiru told Manchester City's official website.
''We just need to keep a cool head and I think we’ll deal with it well.
''We think we can beat Barcelona and we think we can win the tournament.
''The way I see it, we have to win it. We’re the first team to reach the semi-final, so there’s a sense of achievement, but we are going there to win.''
Tom Dele-Bashiru made his competitive debut for City's first team against Leicester in the League Cup in December 2017, and has made five appearances in this season's UEFA Youth League.
Nathanael Ogbeta, Ashinme Kigbu, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and the Nmecha brothers have been registered for the UYL by Man City.
