World Cup-Bound GK Uzoho Concedes Three Goals For The First Time In Career
Published: April 21, 2018
Francis Uzoho was in goal as Real Club Deportivo Fabril were thrashed 3-1 at home by Celta de Vigo II in a Segunda B Group 1 game staged at Ciudad Deportiva de Abegondo - Campo 2 on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper will remember this game for the rest of his career as this is the first time he has conceded three goals in a match since he turned professional in July 2017.
Prior to today's contest, the most goals Uzoho had conceded in a game was two, against Girona in La Liga, Pontevedra, CF Fuenlabrada, Real Madrid Castilla, Valladolid B and CF Talavera in the third tier and the international friendly vs Serbia last month.
Dejan Drazic opened the scoring from a tight angle in the 24th minute, and Uzoho was beaten again by Ros Martinez and Juan Hernandez in the 52nd and 61st minute respectively as the visitors went 3-0 up, before Luis Fernandez netted a consolation strike with nine minutes left.
Real Club Deportivo Fabril duo Fornos and Blas Alonso received red cards in the second half but this had no bearing on the game as their defensive frailties were not exposed again after they left the pitch.
The 19-year-old Uzoho has posted 13 shutouts in 24 matches for Real Club Deportivo Fabril and .Deportivo de La Coruña this season.
Barring an injury, he is set to be named in Nigeria's 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup.
