Celtic, RB Leipzig Monitoring The Situation Of Arsenal GK Of Nigerian Descent
Published: April 23, 2018
It is being speculated that promising English-born Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo could depart Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Mirror UK is reporting that Arsenal risk losing one of their best teenage prospects and he is being targeted by RB Leipzig and Celtic.
As previously reported by this website, Okonkwo has been offered a two-year scholarship ahead of the start of next season but the goalkeeper has yet to agree terms with the leadership of Arsenal.
If the two parties do not tie up the loose ends, it means the 16-year-old can walk away from the Emirates Stadium in the next two months as a free agent but the Gunners will demand a compensation fee as they raised the player.
An England U17 international, Okonkwo is well thought of by Arsenal senior coaching staff, so much so that he has been invited to train with their first team on more than one occasion this season, most recently on Saturday before the Premier League game vs West Ham.
Bukayo Saka, Armstrong Okoflex and Ryan Alebiosu will be first-year scholars at Arsenal next season if they accept the offer from the club.
