Nigerian Winger Explains Why He Is Frustrated Despite Scoring For Southampton
Published: April 25, 2018
Young Nigerian winger Nathan Tella was delighted to score for Southampton U23s in their final game of the season on Monday.
But the former Arsenal youth-teamer was not pleased that The Saints were unable to make the playoffs despite their 2-1 win against Middlesbrough U23.
''Obviously we’re happy we got the win – happy for the boys and with the performance,'' Tella said to Southampton's official website.
''But it’s disappointing that after our hard work this season it’s come to the point where we had to rely on other results.
''Everyone’s a bit happy and frustrated.''
Tella spent a decade at Arsenal before joining Southampton in March 2017 following a successful trial.
The 18-year-old scored four goals in his last six matches for the Saints in the Premier League 2 Division 2.
