'New Obafemi Martins' Comes Close To Scoring Hat-Trick For Barnsley In PDL
Published: April 27, 2018
In his last appearance for the Reds reserve team on Monday against Coventry City, the Nigerian-born striker was amongst the scorers as they claimed a 5-1 road win over Coventry City.
The two sides traded goals in the opening 28 minutes, with Plavotic scoring for the home team and Adeboyejo restoring parity with a brilliant shot.
The Nigerian calmly slotted home to give Barnsley the lead a minute before half-time.
On 65 minutes, Adeboyejo came close to scoring a third goal but saw his header saved by Carey in the Bristol City goal, before setting up Berkovits who made it 3-1.
The former Arsenal academy player has highlighted that that he models his game on ex-Newcastle United star and Nigeria international Obafemi Martins.
''Obafemi Martins was one Nigerian striker that I thought was good and I tried to pick up things from him that I can add to my game in terms of his pace and power,'' he told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Barnsley snapped up the talented Nigerian striker on a three-year deal in November 2017.
