Iwobi Confident Of Getting A Result Against Atletico, But May Miss Out On Milestone
Published: May 01, 2018
Alex Iwobi is confident of Arsenal getting a result when they tackle Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Europa League semifinal at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano (Madrid) on Thursday evening.
The Gunners must score to have a chance of qualifying for the final after they were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week, but Iwobi has stressed that the players are motivated as this is Arsene Wenger's last chance of winning a European trophy before departing the club later this month.
''We are really motivated - especially by what he has done for the club.We are trying to make him end the season on a high,'' Iwobi told Sky Sports.
''And not just for him but for ourselves as well so we are doing our best to get the result.
''We are very confident. We were unfortunate not to get the result we wanted against them in the first leg but we are very confident and believe we can go to the final.''
Alex Iwobi has played 95 first-team games for Arsenal since his debut in 2015 and will miss out on reaching the 100-game milestone this season if he does not get some minutes against Atletico Madrid or they are knocked out of the competition.
Arsenal have three games remaining in the Premier League against Burnley, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.
