Official: Ndidi Named Leicester City Young Player Of The Season Again
Published: May 01, 2018
Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has been named as Leicester City's Young Player of the Season for the second year running at the club's end of season awards on Tuesday evening.
The defensive midfielder beat England U21 internationals Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray to the award.
Ndidi joined Leicester City in January 2017 and has had a strong start to his career in England despite his young age, playing 61 matches in all competitions, including 50 in the Premier League, and directly involved in nine goals.
This season, the number 25 helped Leicester City to qualify for the last eight of the Emirates FA Cup and League Cup.
He has made the most tackles in the English topflight after game week 36, 138 in total, and leads the way for the Foxes in passes and touches.
Ndidi was also nominated for the 2017/18 Players' Player of the Season sponsored by Lanes Jewellers but lost out to defender Harry Maguire.
Kelechi Iheanacho's strike against Peterborough United on January 27 in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup is a contender for the Goal of the Season prize but the winner of the award has not been announced as at the time of this report.
