Omeruo Discusses World Cup Preparations, Rues Failure To Qualify For Europe
Published: May 05, 2018
Kenneth Omeruo is disappointed that Kasimpasa will not be one of the teams representing Turkey in European competitions next season and can't wait for the Super Lig season to end so he joins the Nigeria squad at their training camp for the World Cup.
The versatile central defender returned for a second spell with Kasimpasa in August and has worn their jersey on 27 occasions in the Turkish topflight this season.
''There is a month left in the World Cup. We have a league to finish here. After finishing the league we will start preparations for the World Cup,'' Omeruo told Haber 61.
''Ever since the season started, we wanted to qualify for the Europa League. The past match was painful in that sense. Now we have to continue to finish the league in the best way.''
Kasimpasa were beaten 4-1 by Fenerbahce last weekend, with Omeruo putting in a full shift for the home team.
The Chelsea loanee starts on the bench in this evening's clash against Eddy Onazi's Trabzonspor at the Senol Gunes Akyazi Stadyumu.
