Nigeria World Cup Hopeful Nominated For Best Right-Back In The Netherlands
Published: May 08, 2018
Tyronne Ebuehi has been shortlisted for the best right-back in the Eredivisie following the conclusion of the regular season.
Voetbal Primeur has started working on its Team of the Season, made up of the eleven outstanding players in each position, and nominated the Nigeria international, Santiago Arias (PSV), Denzel Dumfries (SC Heerenveen), Kingsley Ehizibue (PEC Zwolle) and Jonas Svensson (AZ) for the right-back role.
Explaining why Ebuehi was nominated, the Dutch website wrote : ''The Portuguese top club Benfica courted him emphatically. Logical too, because the right back played an excellent first half of the season.
''An invitation from the Nigerian national coach for the World Cup would be the icing on the cake for Ebuehi.''
Ebuehi claimed the right-back spot for his own at ADO Den Haag this season, making 28 starts in the Eredivisie until he suffered a groin injury which has kept him on the sidelines since April 14.
The Haarlem native is battling Abdullahi Shehu, Ola Aina and Brian Idowu to become Nigeria's first choice right back for the 2018 World Cup.
