Tricky Winger Adekanye Torments Chelsea As Liverpool Win Final PL2 Game
Published: May 08, 2018
Immensely talented Nigerian youngster, Bobby Adekanye put in a pivotal display for Liverpool in their 5-1 rout of Chelsea U23s in their final league game on Tuesday evening.
Two days ago, it was Nigerian international, Victor Moses who orchestrated Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool but this time, it was the highly-rated starlet that came back to haunt the young Blues at Anfield.
After Liverpool had gone ahead through George Johnston after 21 minutes, Adekanye was on hand to create further daylight between them, doubling his side's lead with an emphatic finish after showing quick feet to skip his way past Chelsea defender, Joshua Grant and get into shooting position to score.
The 19-year old winger continued to torment the Chelsea defense and was very adept in linking up with his fellow attackers.
A further brace from Yan Dhanda and another two from Johnston all added up with Adekanye's superb effort to pull off the 5-1 victory.
With the result, Liverpool(40) finished the season just two points shy of champions, Arsenal while Chelsea lie in eighth with 29 points.
