Joel Obi Making Torino's Matchday Squad Vs Spal Will Delight Rohr & Super Eagles Fans
Published: May 12, 2018
Joel Obi is in contention to wear the Torino jersey again after more than three weeks on the sidelines as he has been named in their provisional squad for tomorrow's Serie A clash against Spal at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Coach Walter Mazzarri has selected 23 players for the game which begins at 1500 hours and the Nigeria midfielder is among the five midfielders on the roster.
The worst case scenario is that Joel Obi will be a non-playing substitute as teams in the Italian topflight are allowed to have 12 players on the bench, unlike the Belgian First Division A clash between Club Brugge and R.S.C. Anderlecht where Henry Onyekuru was forced to watch the game from the stands.
The former Inter Milan wonderkid appeared at the training ground at Filadelfia on Friday afternoon and continued with his recovery process by undergoing individual training.
Mainz defender Leon Balogun and ADO Den Haag right-back Tyronne Ebuehi are still listed as out as both players were missing from their respective team's match day squads for the final game of the season.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is expected to name the aforementioned players in a 35-man provisional squad for the World Cup on Monday, May 14.
