Conte Remembers That Arsenal Game: Strange Final Because Moses Was Dismissed
Published: May 18, 2018
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has spoken about the final of the Emirates FA Cup between his side and Arsenal last season, and has inferred that the dismissal of Victor Moses had an impact on the game.
The Nigeria international was first booked in the 57th minute for a foul on his former strike partner in the Young Lions, Danny Welbeck, before he was given his marching orders for a dive in the box on 68 minutes.
The Blues will be hoping to join Tottenham Hotspur as the third most successful team in FA Cup history by beating Jose Mourinho's Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday, May 19.
''I remember very well the last final against Arsenal and for sure it was a strange game. If you remember the first goal wasn’t good,'' Conte told reporters at Friday's press conference.
''Then we were able to come back, go 1-1 and then we finished with ten men because there was a red card for Moses. It was a strange final and it was a pity because we had the possibility to do the double.
''This season we have the chance to win this trophy and we deserve to have this chance.
''As you know very well we have to fight against a really good team. We want to win and lift the trophy. ''
Moses was not in action in Chelsea's first four matches of this season's FA Cup but has gone the distance in the last two.
