Nwankwo Kanu Explains Why Ahmed Musa Flopped In The Premier League
Published: June 05, 2018
Arsenal hero Nwankwo Kanu has explained why Ahmed Musa failed to justify his big money move to Leicester City but has refused to write off the striker, saying he is one of the most experienced players in the Nigeria squad.
Musa netted four goals in 32 appearances for Leicester City in his debut season in England but found himself out of favour last term before he was loaned to CSKA Moscow.
''Musa is a very good player, his main asset, of course, speed. As for his appearances for Leicester, he got into the team at a difficult moment, it was hard after they won the league, many changes followed. All this affected the career of Ahmed in England,'' Kanu said to Russian News Agency TASS.
''But that does not mean that Musa is a bad player, I think he showed his level when he returned to Russia before the World Cup.
''I consider him one of the leaders of the Nigerian national team because he is already a very experienced player, he played and scored in the last World Cup.
''In several games he was even the captain of the national team. The Nigerian team certainly needs such a player, he will help grow young players.''
Musa is set to participate in his second World Cup after he was named in Nigeria's final squad announced on Sunday morning.
