Abraham Misses A Sitter As England Beat Mexico In Toulon Tournament Showpiece
England U21s have won the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 for the third year in succession following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mexico at the Stade Francis-Turcan (Martigues) on Saturday evening.

For the third straight year, players of Nigerian descent participated in the showpiece, with manager Aidy Boothroyd naming Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham in the starting lineup; Manchester City's Lukas Nmecha and Chelsea's Fikayo Tomori come off the bench in the 74th and 80th minute respectively.

Roberto Alvarado opened the scoring for the Mexicans in the second minute off an assist from Eduardo Aguirre, who had intercepted a pass from the England team.

The Young Lions picked themselves up after conceding that early goal and equalized through Dael Fry after a terrible mistake by the Mexico goalkeeper in the 32nd minute.

On 36 minutes, Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell made it 2-1 with a right-footed shot from close range and that strike eventually proved to be the winner.

After the break, Abraham was unlucky not to bag his third goal of the tournament after his shot hit the post with the goal at his mercy.

Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa was a member of the England squad that won the Toulon Tournament in 2016 and a year later Chelsea duo Ike Ugbo and Tariq Uwakwe featured in the competition.
