Rohr Speaks On Iwobi, Musa Starting Vs Iceland, Three-Man Midfield Mikel, Ndidi & Etebo
Published: June 17, 2018
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr thinks Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi gave a good account of himself in the opening minutes of their 2-0 loss to Croatia in their World Cup opener against Croatia on Saturday.
And the German has revealed that Leicester City's Ahmed Musa has a chance of starting in attack in the make-or-mar clash with Iceland on Friday after showing flashes of his qualities against the Balkans.
''Of course, you are not satisfied when you don't score, it is the attack, we were satisfied about the organization of the team defensively but we didn't have so many opportunities to score,'' Rohr stated post-match.
''Alex Iwobi did well in the beginning and later Ahmed Musa came, bringing his speed to the match, he has his chances, perhaps, to start the next game, we will see.
''I think the organization was okay, it was the first time we played like that in the midfield, with Ndidi who is coming back now after an injury, with Etebo and Obi Mikel, so when they play together for the first time, there's a bit of complicity.
''I think these young players need time to learn, some times a little bit naive on the set-pieces but we will work on it.''
The Super Eagles are expected to return to their base camp in Essentuki on Sunday to begin their preparations for the second Group D match with Iceland.
