Rohr Hails Three Super Eagles Players After Starring Against Iceland
Published: June 22, 2018
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr was impressed with the performance of three players following the 2-0 win over Iceland on Friday evening, and was pleased with the manner his side handled set-piece deliveries from the opponents.
If Iceland were slightly better offensively in the first half, the three-time African champions dominated the second half in all departments and were rewarded with two goals from Leicester City's Ahmed Musa.
''They understood that we had to fight, we played well in the second half. Iceland is a very good team, very strong, very organized, we know it. I think in the second half we deserved the victory,'' Rohr told reporters post-match.
The German tactician added : ''Set-pieces, we worked very much on it since the last game against Croatia, which I was satisfied with our organization but we have a problem with set-pieces.
''Today Omeruo came in who is very strong in the air, we had our three central defenders so it was much better today.

''We had Victor Moses who had more impact on the right side, and in the second half Ebuehi who brought in his speed.''
Following their impressive win over the Nordic country, the Super Eagles have climbed to second on the Group D table and will qualify for the last sixteen if they beat Argentina or even a draw would be enough if Iceland fail to beat Croatia.
