Nigeria's Top Scorer In World Cup History, Musa: I'm Very Good In Breaking Records
Published: June 23, 2018
Ahmed Musa has spoken of his happiness after entering the Nigerian history books as their top scorer in World Cup history thanks to his brace against Iceland at the Volgograd Arena on Friday evening.
The Leicester City striker once held the record for the most goals scored in a single season in the Nigerian Professional Football League before the record was bettered by Mfon Udoh.
''For me, I am very good in breaking records. I feel very happy being the top scorer in the World Cup, it's not that easy but I have to thank my teammates because they gave me all the support and my chief coach here because if he doesn't believe in me he can't put me on the pitch,'' Musa said in the post-match press conference.
''I thank everybody for the support and we made everybody happy today for the win but we don't have to think about the win, we have to focus on the last game, that is the most important now.''
Musa has provided an update on his future, saying that he will not reject a chance to rejoin CSKA Moscow and thanked the Russian Premier League side for the role they played in his selection for the 2018 World Cup.
''I have not been playing for the past six months, when I came back to CSKA Moscow I was back to myself and I'm going to thank the team very much and the management of the team, there is nothing that I can do but to go back to Leicester.
''My decision of staying in Leicester will be decided in the next two weeks, whether I stay or I leave.
''It is possible to return to CSKA Moscow, I would love to because it is my die hard club, there is nothing I can pay them for the past six months I have been with them than to tell them thank you because they made me return to form.
''If not for CSKA, I wouldn't have the chance of being in the World Cup,'' the Super Eagles number seven added.
