World Cup : Three Super Eagles Stars Named In Group D Best XI, Ndidi Top Tackler & Interceptor
Published: June 29, 2018Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi's outstanding form for the Super Eagles during the group stages of the 2018 World Cup have been recognized after the three players were selected in the Group D Best XI by Whoscored.com.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Chelsea's Omeruo was partnered in central defense by Marcos Rojo, whose 86th minute goal sent Nigeria out of the tournament on Tuesday.
Leicester City's Ndidi was deployed in midfield along with three Croatia stars Ivan Rakitic, Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebić, while Ahmed Musa and Argentina skipper Lionel Messi were named in attack.
The Foxes number 25 finished the tournament with an average rating of 7.79, Musa had 7.39 and Omeruo 7.16.
Ndidi accumulated fifteen tackles and twelve interceptions in his three matches at the World Cup, more than any other player so far.
Other players named in Group D Best XI are : Danijel Subašić, Ivan Strinić and šime Vrsaljko.
