Chelsea 4 Aldershot 2: Super Eagles Defender Features, Ike Ugbo On Target
Published: July 13, 2018
As part of their pre-season preparations, Chelsea beat National League side Aldershot Town 4-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday afternoon, with two players of Nigerian descent involved.
Carefree Youth has informed that Ike Ugbo netted a brace in the friendly, Todd Kane and Jeremie Boga got the other goals, while Football.London's Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord added that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina was part of the Chelsea squad, composed mostly of loanees, that played against the fifth-tier side.
Ugbo had two different loan spells with Barnsley and Milton Keynes Dons last season; Aina was loaned out to Championship outfit Hull City for the entirety of the campaign.
The 19-year-old striker's progress at Chelsea is being monitored by the Nigerian Federation and they held secret talks with the player at the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel in March ahead of the national team's pre-World Cup friendly with Serbia.
On the same day that Chelsea confirmed that they have parted company with Italian manager Antonio Conte, England U21 international Tammy Abraham was pictured training with the first team.
Nigeria World Cup stars Victor Moses and Kenneth Omeruo are expected to report to Cobham as from next week.
