Published: July 20, 2018
Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has not fully recovered from the injury he suffered in Nigeria's 2-0 win over Iceland in a 2018 World Cup Group D fixture on June 22.
The central midfielder had to wear a cast on his left wrist for the national team's final match against Argentina, and has returned to Tianjin Teda training wearing the protection.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm that Mikel's ailment did not prevent him from featuring for his Chinese club against Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday afternoon, but was omitted from the squad as he was serving a mandatory one-match suspension, having received his fourth yellow card of the season against Shandong Luneng on May 18.
The former Chelsea ace struggled with an injury in his maiden season in China which saw him miss seventeen straight matches in the league and limited his appearances to 13 games from a possible 30.
Writing on Instagram, Mikel said : ''Back at it again#Tianjin Teda 😊💪🏿.''
This season, the number ten has figured in 11 matches for Tianjin Teda in the Super League, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
