Super Eagles Target Akinyemi Debuts For New Club IK Start
Published: August 19, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Super Eagles target Adeleke Akinyemi is set to make his league debut for his new club IK Start when they take on Strømsgodset in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday evening.
If IK Start's last training session before the trip to Drammen is anything to go by, manager Rekdal is certain to hand a debut to the Nigerian striker, who completed his switch to the club in the hours leading up to the close of the summer transfer window on August 15.
Akinyemi has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with IK Start tying him to the club until the end of the 2021 season.
Signed from Ventspils for a transfer fee of 700,000 euros, the 20-year-old is one of the most expensive acquisitions by IK Start in their 112-year history.
Akinyemi's impatient Nigerian Academy, Real Sapphire, will not make any money from the transfer of their former player as they sold their rights in the attacker to FC Ventspils for a meager 10,000 euros before the Latvian club agreed terms with IK Start.
He is the top scorer in the qualifying rounds of this season's Europa League with seven goals.
