Liverpool Coach Tells Nigerian Winger Two Things He Must Do For People To Take Notice
Published: August 23, 2018
Liverpool U23 manager Neil Critchley has advised Bobby Adekanye to improve his goalscoring and assists stats for people to take notice of him.
Since joining Liverpool in 2015 from Barcelona, the Ibadan-born winger has netted only two goals for the U23 team in 16 appearances in the Premier League 2 and scored once for the U18 team in the league before he was promoted to the development team.
Having said that, Adekanye showed a glimpse of his offensive capabilities last season in the UEFA Youth League, having had a hand in four goals (3 goals, 1 assist) in his first five games in the competition.
''For any of these boys consistency is always the key. They are not 16 any more and they are at the business end of their development years, if you like,'' Critchley told Liverpool's official website.
''It’s now senior football and it now matters what they do on and off the pitch.
''Bobby knows that if he wants to progress to that next level and for people to really take notice of him then his numbers in terms of assists and goals are going to be really important for him.''
Adekanye and his Liverpool U23 teammates face Manchester City in their next fixture in the Premier League 2 this Friday.
