Netherlands U21 Star Danjuma's Comments About International Future Will Delight Super Eagles Fans
Published: September 07, 2018Club Brugge star Arnaut Groeneveld Danjuma has not ruled out the possibility of playing for the Super Eagles in the near future.
Born in Lagos, Danjuma was supposed to be provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth, Nigeria, based on FIFA's recommendations but the Nigerian Federation are lagging behind their Dutch counterparts in the race for his services.
The dribbling sensation has said that he would love to play for the Super Eagles if he is not capped by the Netherlands senior team.
''It's clear to me, I want to get to the Dutch national team, but if I did not get the chance here, I would to play with love and joy for Nigeria,'' said Danjuma to Fox Sports.
"I would prefer to play for the Netherlands, but nobody knows what will happen in the future."
The winger has explained why he has been playing with Danjuma on the back of his shirt since the start of the season and his comments will certainly delight the Super Eagles faithful.
''I prefer to keep that for myself. Groeneveld is my second name. And I do not use the name at all because it would sound better in Nigeria,'' Danjuma concluded.
Danjuma earned his fifth consecutive start for the Netherlands U21 team as they were held to a goalless draw by England in a European U21 Championship qualifier on Thursday evening and was the best player in the Dutch team in the first half.
