Exciting Nigerian Striker Features As Liverpool Suffer Heavy 5-0 Defeat To Arsenal In WSL
Liverpool suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Arsenal Women  in their opening game of the new WSL season at Meadow Park on Sunday, September 9.

Fresh from representing England at the 2018 FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup, Liverpool striker of Nigerian descent Rinsola Babajide was introduced in the 46th minute.

The Gunners opened the scoring through Vivianne Miedema in the 6th minute, then goals from Lisa Evans and Kim Little made it 3-0 before Miedema struck again in the 39th minute.

Babajide had two chances to reduce the deficit in the second half but one of her shots was blocked and the other was off target.

In the 89th minute, Miedema completed her hat-trick with a stunning right footed strike after receiving the ball from an indirect free-kick.

Elsewhere, Nigeria international Ini Umotong played the last 25 minutes of Brighton & Hove's 1-0 loss to Bristol City.

Lucy Graham's long range strike in the 71st minute separated the two sides at the end of the match.
