Published: September 10, 2018
Tottenham Hotspur U17s won the Euro Youth Cup in St Wendel, Germany on Sunday after beating Galatasaray in the final, with Nigerian goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi impressing for the London club.
Spurs beat Anderlecht 3-0 in the semifinals to set up a meeting with the Turkish club in the showpiece and drew with the Belgian club in their Group A opener before a 3-1 win over FC Saarbrücken.
Tottenham Hotspur youth team coach Matt Wells was impressed by the performance of Oluwayemi as well as Rayan Clark, saying they were both pivotal to Spurs winning the tournament.
''It's been a very good tournament and a special mention goes to Rayan because he captained the team throughout the weekend brilliantly,'' Wells told Tottenham's official webpage.
''His attitude and mentality was superb and that was one of the catalysts for us winning the competition.
''Josh Oluwayemi in goal also did well in that respect – both of those were a credit to the group.''
The 17-year-old Joshua Oluwayemi has represented England at U15 and U16 level and his
sibling Tobi, who is also a goalkeeper, is on the books of Tottenham
too.
