NFF Chief To Reward Golden Eaglets With $5,600 If They Beat Ghana In WAFU-UFOA Zone B Showpiece
Published: September 13, 2018Apart from their bonuses, the Golden Eaglets have been offered additional financial incentives to beat West African rivals Ghana in the final of the WAFU-UFOA Zone B qualifiers for the Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation, Technical Committee Chairman, Ahmed Fresh Yusuf, has promised to reward the Golden Eaglets with N2 million ( approximately US$5,600) if they qualify for the 2019 U17 AFCON by beating Ghana on Saturday.
Yusuf kept to his word of giving the Nigeria U17s a cash reward of N1 million (US$2,800) for their win against Republic of Niger in Wednesday evening's semifinal.
While Nigeria are the most successful team in FIFA U17 World Cup history with five trophies won, their opponents Ghana have been crowned champions on two occasions, with their last title coming in 1995.
Both Ghana and Nigeria have won the U17 AFCON twice along with Mali and Gambia.
Saturday's final between the Golden Eaglets and Black Starlets will hold at Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey, starting from 1930 hours.
