Nigeria target Imade makes the difference in Real Sociedad's win over Liga F champions Barcelona

Moroccan-born forward of Nigerian descent, Edna Imade, was the hero as Real Sociedad stunned Liga F champions Barcelona Femení with a 1–0 victory at the Zubieta Stadium.

Imade’s decisive penalty not only secured the win but also ended Barcelona’s unbeaten league run for the season.

Born to Nigerian parents in Morocco and raised in Seville, Spain, Imade is eligible to represent Morocco, Nigeria, or Spain at the international level.

The match saw Barcelona dominate possession, but it was Imade who made the difference.

Calm under pressure, she converted a penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Real Sociedad the lead.

Her goal proved decisive, with Barcelona unable to respond despite creating multiple chances.

The victory marked several milestones: it was Barcelona’s first league defeat of the season, their first away loss since May 2023, and the first time they failed to score in a league match since January 2020.

For Imade, it represents a defining moment in her career, showcasing her composure and skill on the big stage.

The Nigerian Football Federation now faces a timely challenge to secure Imade’s international future, as Spain could also move to include the talented forward in their national setup.
