Abraham Offered Chelsea First Team Hope As Besiktas Target France World Cup-Winning Striker
Published: September 21, 2018
Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham will fancy his chances of breaking into the Chelsea first team in the near future with reports linking France World Cup-winning striker Olivier Giroud with a departure from Stamford Bridge.
After much delay, the England U21 star linked up with Aston Villa for the remainder of this season just before the close of the loan window as he saw the handwriting on the wall he was not in the plans of Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian gaffer rates Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud ahead of Abraham in the pecking order of strikers and the Nigerian was not utilized in the first three games in the Premier League, though injury played a part, before heading out on loan.
According to reporting by The Sun, the Frenchman is attracting interest from the Turkish Super League with Besiktas poised to test the Blues resolve on the player.
Giroud, 31, joined Chelsea from Premier League rivals, Arsenal in January 2018 and has gone on to play 23 games in all competitions for the club, including four in the league this season.
Abraham has been on the books of Chelsea for fourteen years and has made only three appearances for the first team to date.
