Allnigeriasoccer.com reviews the performances of Nigerian players in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday, September 25.

Defender Matthew Olosunde is still recovering from injury and was not listed by Manchester United in their 8-7 loss on penalties to Championship outfit Derby County at Old Trafford, a game in which Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori went the full ninety for the visitors.

Wilson cancelled out Mata's effort in the second half, Jack Marriott made it 2-1 on 86 minutes before Marouane Fellaini scored with a late, late header to send the game to penalties.

At the Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth survived a late scare to beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2 thanks to Callum Wilson's goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Nigeria U20 international Nnamdi Ofoborh, wearing the number 59 jersey, was a non-playing sub for the Cherries for the second game in a row in the competition, while Jordon Ibe put in a full shift and doubled the home team's advantage from the spot in the 58th minute.

At Bloomfield Road, it wasn't a fairy tale return for Bright Osayi-Samuel to his old club after Queens Park Rangers were beaten 2-0 by Blackpool.

Osayi-Samuel started and was in action for 77 minutes before he was replaced by Aramide Oteh, six minutes before Nathan  Delfouneso entered into the fray for the Tangerines. Ebere Eze was not involved for the Londoners.

At the Hawthorns, Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo played the entirety of West Brom's 3-0 loss to Premier League opponents Crystal Palace.

A brace from Andros Townsend, plus Patrick van Aanholt's effort saw the Eagles claim a win and advance to the next round.

Manchester City began their defense of the League Cup by beating Jonathan Obika's Oxford United 3-0, with Mahrez, Foden and Gabriel Jesus the scorers for Pep Guardiola's side.  Obika played the full game.

At Molineux Stadium, Kelechi Iheanacho won the game for Leicester City vs Wolves with a fine spot-kick in the shootout after both teams could not be separated at the end of ninety minutes.

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was given a much needed rest and didn't make the matchday squad, Iheanacho replaced Jamie Vardy after 60 minutes.
