Adekanye Limps Off Injured After Scoring For Liverpool In UYL Tie Vs Napoli
Published: October 03, 2018
Liverpool were denied a second successive win in the UEFA Youth League after a late goal saw the Reds draw 1-1 with their Italian opponents, Napoli at the Stadio Pasquale Janniello on Wednesday afternoon.
The bad news is the fact that Liverpool could lose Ibadan-born winger Bobbdy Adekanye for their upcoming games after he limped off injured in the 35th minute.
Despite an injury scare against Arsenal, Adekanye, who has been dubbed the Nigerian Messi in these parts, was not scared to put in a tackle and conceded two free-kicks for fouls on Calvano and Bartiromo prior to his substitution.
The former Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid rounded the Napoli goalkeeper to give Liverpool the lead in the 28th minute.
A tap-in from Gianluca Gaetano in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time secured a point for the Azzurrini.
Adekanye has now scored five goals in ten matches in the UEFA Youth League, including his strike vs PSG on match day one.
Barry Lewtas' side will tackle Crvena Zvezda in their next UEFA Youth League fixture on October 24.
