Porto's Super Eagles Defender Fails To Show Off To Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Crystal Palace
Published: October 08, 2018
Nigeria international Chidozie Awaziem remains out of favour at Porto and missed a big opportunity to show off his skills to Premier League clubs on Sunday evening in the Primeira League match of the weekend with Benfica.
For the sixth game in a row across all competitions, of which two were in the Champions League, the Porto number five was an unused substitute.
Portuguese journalist Tom Kundert has published the official list of clubs who sent scouts to the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Lisboa) for the game week seven fixture.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Crystal Palace scouts were all in attendance at the stadium.
Lyon, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain were the other clubs that watched the match.
Awaziem's career at Porto has had some challenges in the last few seasons and the defender had to be farmed out on loan to Nantes for the 2017-2018 campaign after he failed to break into the first team.
The 21-year-old has not played an official match for the Portuguese champions this term but was called up for this weekend's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
