Chippa United's Akpeyi Thinks Outside The Box, Travels By Road To Uyo; Semi Ajayi Also In
Published: October 09, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has arrived the Super Eagles get-together in Uyo ahead of this weekend's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
To get to the Akwa Ibom State capital, Akpeyi had to think outside the box as he first flew to Port Harcourt from the country's commercial capital, Lagos, after his arrival from South Africa.
The former Warri Wolves netminder traveled by road to Uyo and checked into the Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort at approximately 2200 hours on Monday, then headed straight to his room after the long journey.
Meanwhile, as at the time of this report, only four of the invited players have reported for international duty, the others being English-based duo Isaac Success and Semi Ajayi, and Udinese's William Troost-Ekong.
What this means is that manager Gernot Rohr will not begin running the rule over the invites players until Tuesday evening.
Nigeria's opponents, Libya have been preparing for the upcoming fixture since October 4 in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.
