Rio Ave's Kelechi Valued At N3.71B Claims Interest From French Club Nantes
Published: October 19, 2018Reports reaching allnigeriasoccer.com indicates that former Plateau United defender Kelechi John is attracting interest from French Ligue 1 side Nantes.
It is understood that Kelechi's former manager at Rio Ave, Miguel Cardoso had opened talks with his former pupil before he was relieved of his appointment in October 2018.
The player himself confirmed the speculations to allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in Portugal.
"Coach Miguel has worked with me here before and he said he likes me and would like to take me to France." he said.
He futher added "I am made to understand both clubs have discussed a possible move but my club demanded for nine million euros (approximately N3.71 billion) but the club are yet to speak with me directly to ask me if I would like to leave".
Kelechi John has been in spectacular form for Rio Ave of recent in the Liga Revelacao and was outstanding in Rio Ave's 2-2 draw with Benfica last week.
Meanwhile, Nantes, who once had Kelechi's boyhood friend Chidozie Awaziem on their payroll last season, are not doing too well in the French topflight.
They are currently placed 19th on the 20-team log with a paltry six points from nine games.
