'They Are More Than Capable To Get The Job Done' - Uzoho Thinks Picking His Replacement Is Straightforward
Published: November 05, 2018Elche goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has inferred that picking his replacement for the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa is straightforward.
However, Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has not helped matters at all given that the German has opted to field the young goalkeeper ahead of Daniel Akpeyi and Enyimba goalie Ikechukwu Ezenwa in every single game played by the Super Eagles in 2018, eleven matches in total.
Chippa United's Akpeyi was the first choice goalie before he suffered an injury in the days leading up to the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon in August 2017 and failed in his attempt to be installed as the number one after that blunder against Argentina in a pre-World Cup friendly.
As for Ezenwa, it is abnormal that a goalkeeper who is third choice at a local club and does not get playing time is Rohr's second choice goalkeeper.
Writing on social media, Uzoho stated : ''Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us.
''So sad i won’t be there for my teammates for the next 4weeks 😭they’re more than capable to get the job done ✅ .''
Uzoho's injury will keep him out of action for a minimum of four weeks, meaning he has completed his goalkeeping duties for the Super Eagles in 2018.
