Ex-Nigeria U20 Star Battles Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rooney, Matic, 4 Others For 2018 Goal Of The Year
Published: November 05, 2018Former Nigeria U20 international Sammy Ameobi has been shortlisted for Goal of the Year at the North West Football Awards, the organizers have announced.
The Bolton Wanderers striker's stunning goal against Bristol City on February 2, 2018 has been nominated for the accolade.
In the 71st minute of the contest staged at Macron Stadium, Ameobi burst forward over the halfway line before drilling home from 30-yards and netted the winner for the Trotters in the process.
The 26-year-old will battle Premier League star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, England legend Wayne Rooney and Manchester United's Nemanja Matić for the prize.
Other nominees for Goal of the Year are : Conor McAleny (Fleetwood Town), Georgia Stanway (Manchester Ciy), Alan Browne (Preston North End) and Joe Thompson (Rochdale).
The winner of Goal of the Year will be announced at the Northwest Football Awards at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford on Monday, 12th November.
