Former EPL Referee Disagrees With Watford, Iheanacho, Success : Capoue Deserved Red Card
Published: December 04, 2018
French midfielder Etienne Capoue was sent off in the closing minutes of Watford's 2-0 loss to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on
Saturday evening.
Shortly after the Premier League meeting, Hornets number 10 Isaac Success revealed that Capoue's red card was unjustified as his international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho confessed to him that no contact was made.
Assessing the major refereeing decisions in matches last weekend, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher explained why Graham Scott made the right call in sending off the Frenchman.
Gallagher told Sky Sports : ''I think it's a red. He goes in with studs showing and goes through him and Iheanacho's boots are planted.''
Watford coach Javi Gracia has confirmed Watford have appealed against the red card awarded to Etienne Capoue.
He faces a three-game ban if the Hornets appeal is unsuccessful.
