American-born midfielder of Nigerian descent Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu is eligible for the 2018 MLS Waiver Draft.

Major League Soccer announced via their official website on Tuesday the list of eligible players for the waiver draft, with the 24-year-old named on the roster.

The Waiver Draft includes players who are not eligible for Re-Entry or Free Agency and either A) are out of contract and have not been issued a Genuine Offer or B) have not had their 2019 options exercised.

In the 2018 season, Wheeler-Omiunu made only one appearance as a substitute for Atlanta United against Minnesota United on April 1 and played ten games for the reserve team.

Atlanta United declined a contract option on Wheeler-Omiunu and have retained the services of another player of Nigerian descent in striker Patrick Okonkwo.
