Nigerian-Born Defender Identified By MTN As A Future Star Invited To Major League Soccer Combine
Young Nigerian defender Prosper Figbe is among the players invited to the 2019 adidas MLS Player Combine.

The official website of Major League Soccer has reported that 60 players from universities in the United States and Canada were invited for the Combine, scheduled to take place from Jan. 3-9 at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Major League Soccer Player Combine features players who were standouts for their respective premier college soccer teams.

Figbe came to the United States after being identified by the MTN Football Scholars program which uses soccer to promote social change and gives opportunities for the top student-athletes in Nigeria to earn an education at American prep schools and universities.

The 22-year-old represented University of Virginia during the 2018 NCAA Division I men's soccer season.

He has also worn the jerseys of Connecticut Football Club and Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor.
