Published: December 17, 2018The English Football Association are ahead of the Nigeria Football Federation in the race for Manchester United prodigy Shola Shoretire, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Last week, Shoretire entered the UEFA history books by becoming the youngest player to debut in the UEFA Youth League aged 14 years, 10 months and 10 days after coming off the bench in the 75th minute of the Red Devils 2-1 road win against Valencia.
Prior to his debut in the UEFA Youth League, the English Football Association had already identified the 2004-born player as one of the most promising prospects in England as he has attended several England youth teams training camps.
Although Nigeria have an U15 team, the Nigerian Federation have never invited him to the Future Eagles.
Shoretire enhanced his growing reputation after netting a hat-trick for England U15s in their 7-2 rout of Turkey in an international friendly held at St. George's Park, Burton on Monday, December 17.
According to the agreement between the English and Turkish Federations, the friendly was played in four halves of 30 minutes each.
Shoretire scored England's second, third and fifth goals in the 24th, 26th and 52nd minute respectively before he was replaced by Darko Gyabi.
