Official: One-Time Chelsea Trialist Adeboyejo Inks New Barnsley Deal
Published: December 21, 2018
Ibadan-born Nigerian striker Victor Adeboyejo has penned a new contract with EFL League One outfit Barnsley, informs the Reds on their official website.
The new agreement between the parties will keep the 20-year-old at Oakwell until June 30, 2021, with a further year optional in favour of the club.
Adeboyejo will be a familiar name to most Chelsea youth teams fans as he trialed at the Blues and played two games for their U23 team before joining Barnsley in November 2017.
He previously turned out for the academy teams of Arsenal, AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic, and spent time on loan at Royston Town, Hemel Hempstead Town, Heybridge Swifts, Dulwich Hamlet, Soham Town Rangers and Margate while he was on the books of Leyton Orient.
In his first words after inking the new contract, Adeboyejo stated : ''I’m over the moon to have finally got it across the line; a lot of hard work and time has gone into it and I’m thankful to the Club for taking time out to sort it out for me, and for my family and friends for supporting me over the years.
''It’s lovely to be given the opportunity to sign a new deal.''
So far this season, Adeboyejo has scored 4 goals in 16 outings across all competitions.
