Liverpool Legend Tells Nigeria-Eligible Striker What He MUST Do To Further His Career
Published: December 27, 2018
Liverpool hero Danny Murphy has advised Nigeria Football Federation target Dominic Solanke to move onto pastures new in order to continue his development as a player.
This season, the England U21 sensation has yet to figure for the first team of the Reds as he is behind Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in Jürgen Klopp's pecking order of offensive players.
A loan move from Liverpool has been mooted for Solanke in the January transfer window, with Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town and Rangers mentioned as possible destinations.
"Solanke may need to leave Liverpool if he is to progress," Murphy was quoted as saying by express.co.uk.
"He needs to be playing football if he’s to improve, but he’s unlikely to get on the pitch at Liverpool.
''It would be a big decision to leave Liverpool because it’s one of the biggest clubs in the country, but it might be best for his career.
"He will probably look to go out on loan initially as I can’t see him jumping the queue ahead of Liverpool’s other options.
"[Ruben] Loftus-Cheek and [Marcus] Rashford are in similar positions to Solanke at Liverpool.
''They’re great talents but not getting the opportunity to flourish.''
Solanke, 21, scored 7 goals in 26 appearances during a loan spell with Vitesse Arnhem in the 2015-2016 campaign.
