Manchester United Hero Labels Ehizibue 'Brave' For Snubbing Genoa After Passing Medical
Published: January 27, 2019Manchester United hero Jaap Stam has hailed Nigerian defender Kingsley Ehizibue after he snubbed a move to Italian club Genoa despite passing a medical.
Both Genoa and PEC Zwolle had reached an agreement for the transfer of the right back with a transfer fee of between 2-3 million euros being mooted, only for the 23-year-old to pull the plug on the deal at the last minute.
''I think it is a very brave decision. If you take such a step abroad, your feeling must be good. Then you really want to go to that club,'' Stam told Destentor.
''Anyone can want it, but if you do not like it yourself ... He was not satisfied with that whole process. It says something about him that he does not do it for the money.
''It is very tempting when such a club comes, because that is what I personally experienced as a player. "
Ehizibue returned to the starting line-up of PEC Zwolle in a 2-0 win at Heracles on Saturday, two days after returning to the Netherlands from Italy.
