Liverpool Post Scout To Watch Everton Loanee Henry, Nwakaeme In Turkish Super Lig Match
Published: February 19, 2019
A representative from Liverpool was among the spectators for the Turkish Super League meeting between Galatasaray and Trabzonspor held on Sunday, February 10.
According to Turkish newspaper Karadeniz Gazetesi, a Turkish scout, who scouts for talents on behalf of Liverpool in Eastern Europe, monitored proceedings at the Türk Telekom Stadyumu (İstanbul).
It is claimed that the scout came to run the rule over Trabzonspor teenagers Abdulkadir Omur and Arda Akbulut.
Nigerian duo Henry Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme played the full game for Galatasaray and Trabzonspor respectively.
The former Eupen star was sensationally linked with a move to Liverpool as well as Arsenal in the summer of 2017 but it was Everton that won the race for his signature before they loaned him to Anderlecht.
Onyekuru is spending his second season away from the Toffees due to his inability to obtain a British work permit and his situation is not expected to change in July 2019 as he would not not have played in at least 75 percent of Super Eagles' competitive matches over the previous two years, having missed seven games from a possible eleven.
This season, the 21-year-old has scored 9 goals in 28 appearances for Galatasaray in all competitions.
