Bukayo Saka Or Arthur Okonkwo : Who Should Be Nigeria's Prime Target?
Published: April 03, 2019
It's not new that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are plotting a move to convince many dual-eligible players to choose the African side ahead of their country of birth.
NFF President Amaju Pinnick has never hidden his desire to see many foreign-born players commit their future to the Super Eagles and he has recorded a high level of success so far.
Both players are 17 years of age, hence, they are eligible to feature for the Flying Eagles as long as they show their readiness to dump England for Nigeria.
No doubt that the addition of both players to Paul Aigbogun's team will be a very impressive move, however, it might be very difficult and impossible to have both players at the same time.
This means Aigbogun will have to decide who will be his prime target between both players.
Aigbogun had a very good defensive unit during the U20 AFCON and goalkeeper Olawale Oremade was awesome between the sticks. Therefore, Arthur Okonkwo's services isn't really compulsory before the World Cup.
Getting Saka should be Aigbogun's pressing mission, judging by the way his strikers performed in Niger Republic earlier in the year.
The team created many clear-cut chances throughout the AFCON U20 tournament but they couldn't convert them, no thanks to less clinical strikers.
