Amaechi On Target, Saka Assists, Okonkwo Clean Sheet As Arsenal U23 Score Five Vs Derby
Published: April 09, 2019Arsenal on Monday night extended their unbeaten streak to seven in the Premier League 2 with a 5-0 walloping of Derby County thanks to the brilliance of their attackers which was hugely helped by dazzling Nigerian winger, Xavier Amaechi.
One heart warming theme about the huge win was the fact that Amaechi broke his worrisome goal drought with a fine goal to go with an awe-inspiring performance.
The 18-year-old last found the net in an FA Youth Cup game in January and had gone six competitive games for the youth teams without scoring.
While goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo who yet again started in goal for the young Gunners kept his second successive clean sheet, it was his attacking compatriots that lit up Meadow Park.
First, Bukayo Saka showed some exceptional flank play to get past his marker and play in Tyreece John-Jules for the second goal in the 26th minute.
And shortly after the hour mark, Amaechi made it 4-0 for Freddie Ljungberg's side with a clinical finish from a tight angle, his fourth goal in 12 league games for the U23s.
Next up for the Gunners is a big game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday, April 15.
